PRESS RELEASE: Emmy Award Winner Sprague Theobald to speak at the Huntsville Public Library

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Huntsville, Alabama- September 14, 2011

Emmy Award Winner Sprague Theobald to speak at the Main Branch of the Huntsville Public Library

Emmy Award winning filmmaker and owner of Hole In The Wall Productions, Sprague Theobald will discuss his trip through the Northwest Passage at the Huntsville Public Library (Main Branch) on Thursday, September 29, 2011 beginning at 6:30 pm. This speaking event is hosted by Greengate School for Dyslexia and will help kick off Dyslexia Awareness Month.  This is a free event and is open to the public.

Aboard his own ‘57 Trawler “Bagan”,  Mr. Theobald and his crew were the first production powerboat in history to complete the 8500 mile Northwest Passage.  Having amassed more than 45,000 offshore miles and sailed the America’s Cup, he felt the passage was the last nautical challenge.

During the event at the library, Mr. Theobald will share his trip through the Passage and an account of the evidence they encountered from the lost Franklin Expedition of 1845.  He will present a slideshow of some of the still pictures taken during his explorations.  He will also discuss some of the struggles he faced as a child growing up with Dyslexia and how he overcame his learning differences to become successful.

Mr. Theobald has been featured in several magazines including:  ‘Motor Boating’, ‘Blue Water Sailing’, and ‘Passage Maker’. He has submitted a book which will be published in 2012 by Sky Horse Publishing.

Greengate School is housed in the historic Lincoln Mill on Meridian Street, here in Huntsville.  This school, established in 2002, is the area's leading resource for dyslexia and related learning differences. The school educates bright students in Kindergarten-8th grade who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling, and helps them reach their full potential.  There will be information available at the event about the school and about dyslexia in general.  October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and Greengate School hopes to use this time to inform the public about this common learning difference and dispel some of the stereotypes.
