To ensure the future of our school, we have recruited an outstanding board from local business people, educators, and parents.
Board President
Halina Hale, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, practicing in Huntsville since 1985. Halina’s practice includes the evaluation of students in need of academic accommodations. She is acutely aware of the need for, and benefits of, early intervention for students with learning difficulties. Halina has served as President of the North Alabama Association of Licensed Psychologists, and the Association of Licensed Psychologists in Alabama and represented those organizations on the Executive Council of the Alabama Psychological Association.

Barbara Combs' son was in Greengate’s first class in the 2002-2003 school year. He had been one of Marcia’s pre-Greengate tutorial students. Barbara volunteered that year at Greengate cleaning, going on field trips, and helping out sometimes during the school day making copies, filing, and running errands. Barbara took the first Orton-Gillingham training class Marcia organized and began tutoring for Greengate in the 2003-2004 school year. She has tutored every year since. Barbara joined Greengate’s board in late 2003.

David Kimrey is an executive vice president at First Commercial Bank. David graduated from the LSU School of Banking in 1990.

Julia Aquila practiced law for several years before pursuing a career in education. She is currently the resource teacher at Holy Family School and has always had a passion for education and helping children and families who face unique struggles in life.
Laura Ayers, an engineer who designs helicopters for the Army, has more than 20 years' experience volunteering with people with learning and physical disabilities. Working with Governor Bob Riley, Ms. Ayers co-founded Alabama Returning Veterans and co-authored the Reintegration Action Plan (RAP). She holds her M.S.E. in Aerospace Engineering, a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering.
Brandy Brannon is Assistant Vice President in Private Banking at ServisFirst Bank in Huntsville.
Emily Craft is a senior consultant with Educational Collaborators, a national technology consulting organization. She previously worked at Randolph School, first as the Staff Development Coordinator and later as the Director of Technology. She has been a presenter at conferences in the US and Canada on the topics of laptop initiatives, technology integration, and strategic planning. She co-authored “Connected Without Wires” for IBM at School. Emily holds a BA in English from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and an MLIS from the University of Alabama.
Mary Shepard Hughes was on the faculty of Randolph School for many years serving in a variety of leadership positions, including chair of mathematics, Middle School Head, and assistant Head of School. She retired in 2003 as Dean of Academics. The education of students with special learning challenges has long been an interest of Ms. Hughes’, and she was an early supporter of Greengate.
Dianne Reynolds Wife, mother of one. Ms. Reynolds is a retired educator with 30 years experience in Texas, Florida, and Alabama school systems. In addition to her duties as a Greengate School board member, Dianne is a civic volunteer and mentor to teachers in the Huntsville City Schools system.
Bette Yeager was both a classroom teacher and a teacher of the gifted and talented, and worked primarily with 5th and 6th graders. She spent 15 years in the Scottsboro City School System and, for the past 12 years, enjoyed working at Randolph School. Recently retired from teaching, Ms. Yeager looks forward to continuing her service as an educator on the Greengate Board.
Board Member, ex officio:
Trudy Odle is our Head of School as of July 1, 2011, and came to us through Marcia Ramsey. Trudy brings over 30 years of experience in working with students with learning disabilities, and a broad range of experiences that include assessment, teaching, program development, teacher training, consulting to school systems and individuals, and public presentations. She has her M.S. in Education from the University of Kansas, and is an Orton-Gillingham fellow.
